Carboxytherapy

What is Carboxytherapy?

As we get older, cellulite, stretch marks, and scars can become more noticeable. Even fit and healthy people can develop cellulite and individuals who have stretch marks or scars may feel self-conscious about their appearance. Carboxytherapy is an innovative, non-surgical treatment that originated in French spas in the 1930s. It uses infusions of carbon dioxide, a naturally occurring gas in the body, to break up stubborn fatty deposits and increase circulation in the tissue. It can also help the skin produce more collagen which helps create a firmer and more toned appearance.

Carboxytherapy may be especially effective for:

  • Breaking up small fatty deposits
  • Reducing the appearance of cellulite
  • Smoothing and tightening the skin
  • Reducing the appearance of stretch marks
  • Lightening and smoothing out scars
  • Treating dark under eye circles
  • Repairing skin elasticity

Since this is far less invasive than liposuction, you will feel little (if any) discomfort during treatment and can resume light activities immediately after treatment. In order to achieve optimal results, you must receive treatment from an experienced aesthetic enhancement specialist, such as Dr. Stephan A. Rath, a lead physician at Fusion Medical Spa. Dr. Rath is dedicated to keeping up with the latest developments in the field of medical aesthetics and has helped many patients achieve exceptional results with carboxytherapy.

Carboxytherapy Procedure and Results

Carboxytherapy requires inserting a very small needle attached to a thin tube to infuse the tissue under the skin with carbon dioxide gas. Dr. Rath will numb the area with numbing cream so you will not feel the needle. A tank of carbon dioxide gas is connected to the plastic tube and Dr. Rath will regulate how much gas is going into the tissue. Gas is injected beneath the skin and only takes about between 15 to 40 minutes per area to complete, depending on the area.

Most patients need a series of at least 7 to 10 treatments to achieve the full result with treatments spaced about one week apart. Dr. Rath will determine how many carboxytherapy treatments you need during your consultation.

After the treatment series is complete, patients may choose to come in for touch-up treatments once every few months.
